This was one of three tapes provided by Kenneth Chrane. I think the stories and stuff bit was apparended by Chrane, and there is some Chrane commentary at the start and end of the tape. Chrane claims the talk is from February 19, 1978, though I don't know why he claims that. Also referred to as JB5 in my notes.

Aired around January 30, 1973. Copy obtained from tconnors@umd.edu. (UMD now maintains the NPR archives formerly maintained by the National Archives.) See db659 for transcript. Jim Russell, in a 11/16/2007 email, says that he was "certain" that it ran on the NPR program "Options", which was "It was a daily 1 hour documentary or information program. It ran whenever stations wanted it, usually early evening. It was produced by all manner of staff, hosted by whoever produced it, and sort of a weak, meandering series ... which finally meandered right of the network." In a separate email he notes, "It was 59 minutes long, it was a documentary about phone phreaks, andAT&T tried to stop its distribution by threatening stations all over the country, which is why you find a transcript in their files."
